Hmm... been watching this thread.. For some reason I've seen something very similar on Mandrake 9.0 and my own SuSE 8.0/8.1 systems. Can't give you an exact description but it seems to be a general KDE problem rather than just a Debian issue. Can't tell you more than this :( -- Thanks Richard
