I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you, but I too experience sluggish browsing on certain sites. Most noticably with www.tsn.ca and www.nhl.com (check out the left panel on that page, it's hideous!). I have no idea what causes it but since I'm using 3.0.4 I figured it'd be fixed in 3.1...
