These warnings have nothing to do with your Fatal IO error. They come from kdebase/kcontrol/kcontrol/kcminit.cpp (line 90) which is started in /usr/bin/kde2 from kdeinit Just remove the X-KDE-Init=... lines from /usr/share/applnk/Settings/Personalization/spellchecking.desktop and /usr/share/applnk/Settings/Sound/audiocd.desktop and the warnings are gone.
