ok...if I don't get a fixed package up in time of today's install run this is a workaround for the preinst bug in kdm.
rm -rf /etc/X11/kdm/authdir that *should* take care of it...if you have already installed it and it failed just rm -rf /etc/X11/kdm everything is under /etc/kde2/kdm now..the preinst should have copied or moved things over however the authdir I think fubar'd things...
