I have KDE 2.1.1 from kde.debian.net running on Debian Potato 2.2r3 w. kernel 2.4.4, XFree 4.02, on a P!!!-600 HP OmniBook 500 laptop w. 128MB RAM. Works great, except that there are no laptop power control options in KControl. I have enabled APM in the bios and in the kernel (as a module), the module is loaded and apmd is installed and running. I read the help files in KDE Control, and set apmd suid root, as directed. The laptop power control option does not show up, whether logged in as root or as a user. xapm works and accurately reports on current status. I haven't been able to find any other details about what else needs to be installed to get the laptop controls - does anyone know what else I should check, or what else I might have missed?
I have already posted to the kde-user mailing list, but thought I'd try here in case this was a debian-specific issue. ____________________ Bruce Best
