One quick way of testing this is to move your KDE
configuration files to a safe place and start konqueror with
the stock defaults. Then, you'll be able to see if there's a
difference in performance.
Unfortunately, I'm not a heavy user of Konqueror yet to have
noticed any slowdowns...
