submit a change request to every Debian package to include some bit of information that would say what it is. I mean...how do you know what is or is not a KDE package. (not every KDE package depends on kde libraries let alone qt) > More importantly, though, I just ran > > apt-get update > > with > > deb ftp://kde.tdyc.com/pub/kde potato main crypto optional qt1apps > > in /etc/apt/sources.list > > and nothing shows up in /var/lib/dpkg/available. IIRC apt-get does not touch /var/lib/dpkg/available...it has it's own db's, dselect/dpkg does. > Am I misunderstanding how available works? > > Finally, last time I did a apt-get install task-kde I didn't get kmail, > but was able to apt-get install kmail separately (it never worked, but > that's another story). Wouldn't this mean there are kde packages > available which are not in task-kde? something must have been broken then if it didn't install kmail. And yes, there are kde pacakges available which are not in task-kde. task-kde only deals with the main official KDE packages. Ivan -- ---------------- Ivan E.
