Not really, nobody tries hard to make everything compatible with Java 5 and many packages already use Java 6 and 7 APIs. AFAIK GCJ is just good enough to run Ant and LibreOffice (It would be interesting the run a rebuild of the Java packages with GCJ and see what is still compatible).
