The right hint was given to you already. You have problem finding com.sun.tools.javac.Main? GCJ definitely provides that class for compatibility. $ unzip -l /usr/share/java/libgcj-tools-4.3.jar | grep javac.Main.class 3611 03-17-07 05:36 com/sun/tools/javac/Main.class So your problem must be somewhere else.
