I have been using Eclipse 3 of a Debian sid PowerPC install regularly for a couple of weeks now, and I feel quite comfortable that we could reliably package it once all the necessary (and complex) dependencies upon GTK and SWT packages are worked out.
Thomas Fogwill was originally heading this up; perhaps he can give us a status and we can get things moving.
