Hello, The newest 1.1.6-2 debian package of SableVM has just hit Sarge/testing.
I wanted to ask you to try it out and report successes and/or problems you had. This is very important for SableVM developers to get feedback at this point so that we could fix any discrapiences before Sarge release. It also seems that SableVM is the only Free Java Virtual machine that includes that complete/fresh java class libraries from gnu classpath and that is available on all Debian architectures. This is especially important when it comes to support of AWT and Swing, which are under heavy development. You might see the standard screenshots section at http://sablevm.org/screenshot.html http://sablevm.org/ as well as an update with Swing apps that started working lately: http://gadek.homelinux.org/SwingWithSableVM/ Given, that it's not known when Sarge will release and that there's no new SableVM release planned yet 1.1.6 might be the version that will be released with Sarge. The most important improvements include: - Synchronized sablevm-classpath with the latest GNU Classpath CVS (post 0.10 release) as of July 10, 2004. - Improved AWT and Swing support. - Improved the support for Ant 1.6. - Added new DecoderUS_ASCII, Spring and SpringLayout classes. - Added a sablevm.verbose.synchronization (DEBUG) option to help debugging deadlocks. - Improved TimeZone handling. - Added useful additional information in stack dumps. - Added new documentation. - Fixed various bugs. Under the URL below you can also find the original announcement of 1.1.6 version which includes more informations about the project itself. http://sablevm.org/lists/sablevm-user/2004-July/000005.html Long Live Free Java! :-) Grzegorz B.
