I always thought that means "_f_ix broken"?
man apt-get:
--fix-broken
Fix; attempt to correct a system with broken depen�
dencies in place. [...]
IMO it doesn't do the trick with files in two packages... for that
is dpkg -i --force-overwrite. Don't know if you can pass that on with
apt-get.
