There is a discussion on "starting and updating eclipse": http://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=32147 The discussion started about the use of -data, but is now about 'starting eclipse' on differnt ystems. Maybe someone can give a 'linux point of view' as it is currently based around the idea, how to start on win2k and mac (single-user and only with GUI). There is also a new subproject on eclipse.org, which should look into such 'improvments' (ok, mostly this project is for internals of eclipse, but this is an internal too :) : http://www.eclipse.org/equinox/index.html Jan
