Thank you for wrapping at 7x characters! So much nicer. :) * Alan KF LAU <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [001031 20:18]: > I found that java binaries are symlink to /etc/alternatives/*. > Is that a single command I could change the 'alternatives' like > I do in update-alternatives for X?
Well, that would be a logical way to do it. :) I didn't think about it too much, and just made symlinks. I imagine you would get better results by using the alternatives mechanism. (Which I haven't investigated well.) There are many commands associated with java though, so I would suggest making sure you get them all -- ls -l /etc/alternatives | grep jdk gave me 10 commands -- your system may be different, of course. :) > Also, I've been told that I don't need to set CLASSPATH in jdk1.3? Any > information on it? You know, I hear the story change every time anyone brings up the question. I think CLASSPATH is mostly a thing of the past; however, you may still need to try various settings to get things to work. :( -- ``Oh Lord; Ooh you are so big; So absolutely huge; Gosh we're all really impressed down here, I can tell you.''
