Io invece, che la documentazione la leggo sempre tutta e con cura prima
di postare sulla lista, in /usr/share/doc/xine-ui/README.Debian guarda

Due to possible legal issues, xine doesn't include any code to descramble CSS
"enhanced" DVDs. CSS is sold by the DVD industry as a "copy protection", though
it's more of a "view protection" as it makes DVDs unviewable with unlicensed
players (like xine).
Some people have hacked CSS decryption routines, and some of those are
available as xine plugins. So if you have such a DVD, have a look at one of
the CSS plugin sites! If you are positive that it's allowed where you live,
you can just install the Plugin and watch all your DVDs...
Se poi installi xine-dvdnav guarda cosa trovi in
/usr/share/doc/xine-dvdnav:
This software does NOT contain any code to perform Content Scrambling
System (CSS) decryption. It uses the freely available libdvdread to access
DVDs and DVD images. The author recommends that, for legal reasons, you
only use a non-CSS enabled version of libdvdread.
Mi sembra che chiariscano la situazione, hai capito ora?
Se poi guardi i docs di libdvdread2 trovi tutto quello che cerchi,
tranne l' olio di gomito, quello è nella sezione extra ;-)
