PREMESSA INUTILE: 1. ho recuperato un pc fisso (HP Pavilion t742.be) da amici che non lo usavano più nonostante avessi installato loro un dual-boot windows/ubuntu 8.04 2. stufo di non aggiornare mai (qualcuno la chiama sindrome da instabilità!), ho deciso di "rompere il giocattolo" passando all'alfa 1e2 di ubuntu 8.10 a Debian SID (con una reinstallazione completa). PREMESSA UTILE: La scheda wireless (una Prism GT/Prism Duette: PCI vendor 1260 PCI Product 3886 - Generic ISL3886) funzionava con ubuntu, sia con kernel 2.6.22 che con kernel 2.6.26 (Intrepid) usando i moduli p54pci. PROBLEMA: non riesco a far funzionare la rete wireless, o meglio, non riesco nemmeno a vedere l'interfaccia (wlan0) con ifconfig o iwconfig. PROCEDURE TESTATE: 1. aptitude install linux-wlan-ng && m-a a-i linux-wlan-ng. -> Problema: linux-wlan-ng, come viene scritto sul terminale, non può ancora essere compilato su un kernel > del 2.6.24 2. svn co svn://svn.shaftnet.org/linux-wlan-ng/trunk && cd linux-wlan-ng && make config -> stesso problema di prima 3. modprobe p54pci (e moduli accessori) -> nessun esito 4. modprobe hostap (e moduli accessori) -> nessun esito 5. modprobe oriconoco (e moduli accessori) -> nessun esito Non so più cosa fare per fargli riconoscere la scheda (premesso che per le soluzioni 3-4-5 ogni volta mettevo gli altri moduli in blacklist).
