We have a Compaq Proliant DL320 (PIII @ 1266MHz) running Debian Woody and amanda acting as a backup server, and it runs pretty well. I didn't managed with the Compaq's Agents since I don't need much hardware diagnostics, but however I'd prefer using lm_sensor instead of the provided SuSE/RedHat rpms. Maybe they can be alien(1)ized to deb. On the DL320 there are no RAID controllers, so I can't help more.
