Exim(woody) & amavis-ng(testing)

Hi all im trying to run amavis-ng from testing, under my exim woody standar. 
When i conect to the mta port the following message showoff

2003-05-08 18:26:04 Exim configuration error
  main option "perl_startup" unknown in line 6


I wont to confirm that the exim in woody is not compile with the perl
option 

        EXIM_PERL = perl.o

Just not to go on waisting time in it, or to revise the config, by the way
line 6 is where i have include
        
        perl_startup = do '/etc/exim/exim.pl';

Though is preaty obvious i just wont to be shure
