By the way, what is NANOG and where to get it ? None of the servers are avaible from Belgium at 06:54AM CET, might i add it is crucial to supply a time at wich you made your tests and supply some information on wich site/ip you tried to contact. (yes, i'm unemployed and have had a bad night sleep, hehe ) In my experience this could indeed indicate some sort of D-o-S attack on the webserver IP address but there is more. Following the samspade.org/t tool i got these results : http://www.samspade.org/t/dns?a=aljazeera.net http://www.samspade.org/t/dns?a=english.aljazeera.net http://www.samspade.org/t/dns?a=mail.aljazeera.net Note that bothe mail.aljazeera.net and english.aljazeera.net have a completely different IP address. Also, the traceroutes show, very likely, some sort of pre-emptive blocking of traffic to the aljazeera dns's wich might be related to a DDOS indeed. Though a serious DDos would not focus on a DNS. The IP's involved show some oddities as well related to the WHOIS results from different locations, check it out. I've done inquiries from samspade.org and some other websites as well. Using the DNS servers in Belgium i get a more real-world result then the apparently flawed DNS database wich samspade had been using. Hurray for local-dns-servers. --- then i became smart and used the web for it's intents and found this --- http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99993537 NWO ?
