I have courier-imap working here with mysql authentication. Currently I am using: courier-authmysql 0.33.0-3 courier-base 0.33.0-3 courier-imap 1.3.7-3 It seems they are no longer in unstable. The courier packages were changed recently I believe. Maybe that broke something. You need a line like: AUTHMODULES="authmysql authpam" in /etc/courier/imapd but I guess you already know that.
