I'd really recommend PHP4 - Grundlagen und Profiwissen Jörg Krause Carl Hanser Verlag, November 2000 1168 Seiten plus CD ISBN 3446215468 DM 99,80 It's not the often seen conversion of the online manual and I've heard many people starting with PHP to have learned quite a lot. As usual, you should not expend the ultimate depth for professionals, though.
