Greetings, I've run up a new box with potato and using postfix for smtp relay. All looks well, however in mail.log there are many entries like:
Apr 28 23:35:33 foo postfix/smtpd[1617]: connect from unknown[209.35.126.76] Apr 28 23:35:34 foo postfix/smtpd[1617]: 48751B8014: client=unknown[209.35.126.76] Apr 28 23:35:53 foo postfix/smtpd[1596]: timeout after DATA from unknown[209.35.126.76] Apr 28 23:35:53 foo postfix/smtpd[1596]: disconnect from unknown[209.35.126.76] Apr 28 23:36:12 foo postfix/smtpd[1625]: connect from unknown[209.35.126.76] Apr 28 23:36:13 foo postfix/smtpd[1625]: 6E58BB8012: client=unknown[209.35.126.76] Apr 28 23:36:37 foo postfix/smtpd[1614]: timeout after DATA from unknown[209.35.126.76] Apr 28 23:36:37 foo postfix/smtpd[1614]: disconnect from unknown[209.35.126.76] Apr 28 23:36:53 foo postfix/smtpd[1596]: connect from unknown[209.35.126.76] Apr 28 23:36:54 foo postfix/smtpd[1596]: 43924B8015: client=unknown[209.35.126.76] Curiously, the "postfix/smtpd[1596]" entries appear to log the timeout+disconnect before the connect. Odd. The main queston: should I be concerned about the "timeout after DATA" messages? Thanks, Neale.
