Hi!
Mine segfaults on cold-start but only with php4 module loaded and have done so for quite a while. I figured out that, at least in my case, this works ... I comment out the php4 module and 'apachectl start', then uncomment it and 'apachectl restart' ... All modules, and binaries are from packages. Hopes this helps... /Christofer On 05 Jan 2004 19:47 CET you wrote: > There is a documented bug with the Testing (Sarge) version of Apache. > > I was wondering if anybody has a quick fix for Apache. > > Both the '/usr/sbin/apachectl' and the '/etc/init.d/apache' startup scripts > bomb and give a 'Segmentation fault'. > > To solve the problem, I tried reinstalling older versions of apache-common > and apache from another Sarge server that is working. > However, this did not fix the problem. > > I also did a diff on '/usr/sbin/apachectl' script and the > '/etc/init.d/apache' script from 2 seperate servers. > There seems to be no difference between the old and new startup scripts. > > Background info on the bug: > > http://lists.debian.org/debian-apache/2003/debian-apache-200312/msg00268.html > > The Debian Developer reduced the problem to normal, but did not offer a > solution: > > http://lists.debian.org/debian-apache/2003/debian-apache-200312/msg00290.html > > My problem -- Apache will not start after update: > > rt:/usr/sbin# /etc/init.d/apache start > Starting web server: apache/etc/init.d/apache: line 70: 855 > Segmentation fault start-stop-daemon --start --pidfile $PIDFILE > --exec $DAEMON > failed > > My Debian (Sarge) packages related to Apache: > libapache-auth 1.6.0-7 LDAP authentication module for Apache > libapache-dbi- 0.92-0.1 Connect apache server to database via > perl's > libapache-mod- 4.1.7 Apache module for MySQL authentication > libapache-mod- 1.27-4 Integration of perl with the Apache web > serv > libapache-mod- 2.8.14-3 Strong cryptography (HTTPS support) for > Apac > libapache-mod- 2.8.14-3 Documentation for Apache module mod_ssl > libapache-relo 0.07-1 Reload changed modules in a mod_perl > environ > libapache-requ 1.1-0.1 Generic Apache Request Library > libapache-sess 1.54-1 Perl modules for keeping persistent user > dat > > -- > ------------------------------------------ > Ted Knab > Chester, MD 21619 > ------------------------------------------ > 35570707f6274702478656021626f6c6964796f6e602f66602478656 > 02e6164796f6e60237471647560216e6460276c6f62616c60257e696 > 4797e2a0 > > > -- > To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > with a subject of "unsubscribe".
