I can't help but think that portslave+radius is a bit of overkill for what Kay-Michael originally requested, but maybe I misread the scope of what he was asking for. If it's just for a single dialin from a single laptop, mgetty is simple to setup and works well. It also handles receiving/sending faxs on that line as an added bonus.
