NameVirtualHost means that you're defining the virtual hosts by name. Change
the VirtualHost line to read:
<VirtualHost xyz.net>
And make sure you use:
ServerName xyz.net
ServerAlias www.xyz.net
Otherwise people like me get very cranky. :)
