Kernel >= 2.2.17 or 2.4.* for FW/Proxy

Hi,

which kernel would you suggest for a _stable_ and secure
Debian based Firewall? 

I am currently setting up a system based on 2.2.17 and i am
not sure if i should go for 2.4.* with the new filtering-code.

Any advice appreciated.
