I believe North Korea dropped hanja completely while South Korea still uses about 2000-2500 hanja characters? (So many homonyms in the language that you can see Koreans drawing hanja in their palms to show what they mean :-) ) Somewhat off topic. I'll go back to Skolelinux now as a lot of updates have just been checked in.
