Especially in the NM corner, it is important that people understand
what is
meant. We can't assume that they'll understand our jargon.
Therefore I
support the change of using Debian Project Member and New Member,
at least in
the NM corner.
To get Newbies understand the terminology, it is important to try to
use the same everywhere. Else people might get confused. So it is
better talking about "DD" instead of introducing a new "DPM" extra
for New Maintainer process. The NM pages should have references point
out what "developer" in the case of "Debian Developer" means.
It is needed that people applying for NM process know, what words
like "Debian Developer", "Member", "package maintainer", "New
Maintainer" and so on really mean. If you talk about "Debian Project
Member" somewhere and "Debian Developer" somewhere else, many people
will think, these are two different kind of people.
BTW: It would be possible to include the Debian Dicts into debian-
www, so that acronyms and words can be linked to their translations
and or Definitions.
Changing "Debian Developer" to "Debian Project Member" needs the
change of constitution and other documents in my point of view.
greetings
Jutta
