I just apt-upgraded a load of stuff, and now fvwm hangs when I do startx. "LANG=C startx" works, but then xterms I start from the window manager aren't in UTF-8 mode. Has anyone else experienced this?
Should I be setting LANG to a UTF-8 locale in .bashrc, or is there a better way? I vaguely remember either reading about or experiencing some problem in the past with the X server running in a UTF-8 locale, but I'm surprised at this recent regression.
