Hello everyone,

I'm struggling to install on a laptop without CD-ROM, but with a network card
that is supported by netdde.

I have another partition with linux installed and I tried to use crosshurd,
which downloads and extracts all packages without errors, but still getting the
same problem with Hurd bootstrap I mentioned earlier:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-hurd/2024/12/msg00052.html

I also tried to use the daily mini.iso (which I know is untested). When using
the sid archive this will fail in the Install Base System step because there is
always some issue with unstable.
I also tried to use the installer iso-scan module in the installer to install
the base system from the 2023 release iso image, but although the iso image is
found on another partition on the machine, the mount command fails. I presume
iso-scan would not work on hurd as the iso would need to be mounted a different
way.
I also tried to point the installer to snapshot.debian.org to the time of 2023
release, but the installer fails the check of the archive key signature. Is it
possible to instruct the installer to skip the key signature check?
I noticed that at the end of the installer /etc/apt-setup/generators/50mirror
script, when snapshot.debian.org is chosen [check-valid-until=no trusted=yes] is
added to the apt configuration. I presume this is done when apt is being setup,
and does not affect the installer.

I am aware of mmdebstrap mentioned in this mailing list at the end of last year,
which could work in the similar way to crosshurd, but I did not find enough
information to be able to make it work for an installation on real hardware.

Any suggestions to getting Hurd installed on real harware without CD-ROM
welcome.

Best regards,
João
