There is also the possibility of using the mini.iso image, which only
uses network, not the CD image.

They are basically the same. It's just that crosshurd was created a long
time ago specifically for being able to create a debian hurd system, and
nobody took the time to keep maintaining it, while mmdebstrap was meant
for creating a debian linux system. The difference mostly lie in setting
the translators. See the "creating Hurd chroots on Linux using DPKG_ROOT
chrootless mode" thread on this debian-hurd mailing list for the latest
details. Possibly we can finish fixing mmdebstrap, document its use, and
get rid of crosshurd. Contribution welcome!
