I don't know if you or anyone else is still interested in this. I have just installed Debian GNU/Hurd using the 2023 release CD image on a laptop with 512 MB of RAM. This is a HP Compaq nx6110. The installer went into "Low memory mode" and I chose the Expert Install. The driver for network card on this laptop is blacklisted on netdde, so I did not go through the network configuration steps and I choose the "Free memory" option after every few steps. So I guess the issue you are seeing is not only related to the amount of memory available. Best regards, João
