Dear all, ymuse [0] shows the application version and release date in the about dialogue. So far I used the upstream version there and set the date to the latest debian/changelog entry as afaik I can't access the upstream release date during the build.
Now I found it a bit weird to show the upstream version (e.g 0.21) there but not the date of the upstream release, so I think about showing the debian package version with a "debian" postfix (e.g. 0.21-3_debian) instead to make clear the information shown is about the debian packaging (see attached screenshots).
What do you think about this approach? I also asked in IRC and someone said I could also manually set the date to the upstream release date. I want to avoid this as I consider this very error prone as you could easily forget to set the date when updating the package.
