This bug shows up during the debconf questioning for the "locales" package, when installing after purging, or when dpkg-reconfiguring after installation. It affects the "dialog" frontend, but neither "readline" nor "editor". Maybe it should be reported as a debconf bug. In the first debconf menu "Select locales to be generated", select n languages. Say: [X] fr_FR ISO-8859-1 [X] fr_FR.UTF-8 UTF-8 [X] [EMAIL PROTECTED] ISO-8859-15 Only the two last will be present in the second menu "Which locale should be the default in the system environment?". And only those two will actually be generated. I hope this'll help to figure out the problem. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.9.050419 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages locales depends on: ii debconf 1.4.58 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 [glibc-2.3.5-3] 2.3.5-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an locales recommends no packages. -- debconf information: * locales/default_environment_locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED] * locales/locales_to_be_generated: fr_FR.UTF-8 UTF-8, [EMAIL PROTECTED] ISO-8859-15 --------------------------------------- Received: (at 330671-done) by bugs.debian.org; 3 Oct 2005 19:13:16 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Oct 03 12:13:16 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from main.uucpssh.org [212.27.33.224] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.36 1 (Debian)) id 1EMVkS-0004GB-00; Mon, 03 Oct 2005 12:13:16 -0700 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by main.uucpssh.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2BA4B8AA06 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Mon, 3 Oct 2005 21:13:13 +0200 (CEST) Received: by main.uucpssh.org (Postfix, from userid 10) id E95E28BED9; Mon, 3 Oct 2005 21:13:12 +0200 (CEST) Received: by localhost.localdomain (Postfix, from userid 1000) id 761C747D5A; Mon, 3 Oct 2005 21:06:51 +0200 (CEST) Date: Mon, 3 Oct 2005 21:06:51 +0200 From: Denis Barbier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#330671: locales: should be closed Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.11 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 On Mon, Oct 03, 2005 at 03:40:44PM +0200, Nicolas Boulenguez wrote: > Package: locales > Version: 2.3.5-6 > Followup-For: Bug #330671 > > I had the same problem some days later while configuring > xserver-xorg. locales is not responsible.
