Package: libc6 Version: 2.3.5-6 Severity: normal /etc/init.d/glibc.sh is called very early on in the boot process. /usr may not be mounted so using /usr/bin/dpkg may fail for some people. So would using /proc since the may not be mounted either. /bin/uname should be there and /bin/sh can do maths.
