My approach certainly defers the problem. For a number of other tools, what you propose is what happens indeed. I considered that option, but figured that it was not worth the effort: Nobody uses the suffixed names (as nothing provides them) and once the -for-host packages are there, they can provide these packages. On the other hand, these provides are wrong and they make diagnosing installation failures unnecessarily hard. Therefore removing them looks like an incremental step to me.
