Bear in mind that EU != Schengenland[1]. Only thirteen current EU countries have signed up; the UK and Ireland haven't. But then lots of EU countries tend to rely on internal checks (e.g. ID cards), so it's all quite complicated, really. ;-) S. [1] Europe's border-free scheme.
