The wiki page content is outdated since years. As far as the default network settings are concerned, I suspect you need to use <ip address='10.0.0.1' netmask='255.0.0.0'> </ip> instead of <ip address='10.0.2.1' netmask='255.255.255.0'> </ip> (last valid for the Lenny release, iirc).
