Last year, the major of Narvik asked what it would cost to switch the schools in Narvik over from Skolelinux to Windows. The answer was written last year, but this week I finally managed to get it published.
The answer was that it would cost at least NOK 9 000 000 (around 1 553 170 USD, 1 195 854 EUR) to migrate their about 1500 Linux computeres from Skolelinux to Windows. Using Skolelinux allowed the city to fullfill all the educational requirement regarding ICT in the schools, while saving a lot of money. Perhaps something someone can write an english article about this and get published on Slashdot? It might inspire someone to try out Debian Edu. :) -- Happy hacking Petter Reinholdtsen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-edu-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
