When running apt-get update and upgrade, I get a lot of errors:

I use chroot /opt/ltsp/i386 then run apt-get

The messages about problems with /tmp/user/0/ is because TMPDIR and TMP is
set to a per-user directory only valid outside the chroot (due to security
and name space considerations).

To avoid it, try to call chroot like this:

   TMP= TMPDIR= ltsp-chroot
