I believe this is caused by a 'avoid: kdm' entry in one of the task
files.  This blocks kdm from the DVD.

It is probably real.  When I last looked at it, the problem was the
kernel version check returning an error for a while after the
installation, and "fixing" itself after a while.  No idea what is
causing it.
