Do most users of stopmotion use USB or DV cameras? Support for DV
cameras should still be present in Lenny. Would it be better to drop
stopmotion from the Lenny release because the USB camera support is
broken? We do not really want a lot of unhappy users complaining
about stopmotion not working for them, but we do not really want to
remove a tool that is used with Woody either. What to we want the

while our Youngstermeeting we have worked on this and found a
solution.
I will ask Martin to publish the result here.
I think fixing vgrabbj is a very very time consuming task. At the
Youngstermeeting, we changed the image grabber to gqcam.
After starting stopmotion, open the settings and change the line
vgrabbj -f $IMAGEFILE -d $VIDEODEVICE -b -D 0 -i vga
to
gqcam -d $IMAGEFILE -v $VIDEODEVICE
I'm not an expert in using stopmotion, but the results seemed
reasonable. We checked this with two different webcams
(one using luvc, the other using the gspca kernel module).
Is this a sufficient fix for your needs?
Kind regards,
Martin Öhler
