Overall, I am having a very hard time with SL3 compared to SL2 a year ago. Not that I'm complaining, just fyi.

I can't get any SL3 machine (ltsp server or workstation) to install a
local printer. They all fail with some permissions thing showing in the
log. Is it because I still have a SL2 tjener?
It means all my printers are connected via old SL2 workstations, (apart
from the printers with LAN cards of course.)
