Sorry for not getting back to you, but I got entangled in tasks related to the impending Debian release, and the fallout from the dpkg 1.17.14 release. I expect that after 1.17.22 (or 1.17.23 if that needs to happen) I'll have to the time and mental bandwidth to review and discuss this.
