Please read my original report carefully. This is _not_ a Debian system, only dpkg is taken from there, the shadow package does not come from Debian, so there's nothing wrong with Debian's shadow. I thought I found a bug in dpkg, but it seems it's a feature (IMHO misfeature, but that's a different story...) -- Egmont
