I don't have enough confidence in Debian's pam, yet, to insist that everyone that wants to use sash must implement pam support before using sash. By the way, I've written a sashconfig which offers several different options for managing a root account with /bin/sash as its shell. I'm not going to release it yet, because I may want to make some more changes to it, but there should be a new sash package out before long. -- Raul
