That will be a problem in environments having a central user database. Since password entries will be the same on all hosts, the contents of /etc/shells should also be the same - otherwise, users may not be able to log in. So /etc/shells changing depending on usrmerge is not just counter-intuitive, but it has the potential of breaking things. Gabor
