I run unstable as my daily driver and disable unattended upgrades every time I install a new unstable box. I like to be able to curate the list of packages I am upgrading and it allows me to ensure that I do not upgrade during large transitions, etc before things settle down. I don't think that running unstable is a good suggestion for all users looking for a more rolling release, but it works for me.
