My conclusion of that thread is that we would like to change to something else but it was not clear what upstream git was going to use as default name and that we should possibly better wait until we know more... that said, re-reading the archive, some sort of rough consensus could emerge for using debian/devel instead of debian/master. Do we know more in between? How will git handle this transition?
