I don't think you're part of our consensus.
You proposed conclusions contrary to to those proposed by others in the
discussion without responding to the arguments raised in that
discussion.
While neither of your ideas above have been explicitly considered, they
run counter to the ideas that were discussed without being responsive to
points raised during that discussion.
As an example, several people during the discussion said they did not
like dealing with merge requests and preferred not to do so.
